In the vast landscape of modern cosmetics, few products successfully bridge the gap between intensive skincare and effortless color as effectively as the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm. For many beauty enthusiasts, the quest for the perfect lip product ends with a drawer full of half-used tubes that were either too drying, too sticky, or simply failed to deliver on their promises of a fuller-looking pout. However, the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm has carved out a unique niche by offering a multi-sensory experience that prioritizes lip health while providing a customizable hint of tint. This article explores the intricate details of this cult-favorite product, examining why it has become a staple in the self-care routines of those who value both aesthetics and nourishment.
Lip care is often an overlooked aspect of a daily beauty regimen, yet the skin on our lips is among the most delicate on the entire body. It lacks the sebaceous glands found elsewhere, making it prone to dehydration, feathering, and loss of volume over time. Buxom’s approach with this balm is not merely to mask these issues with a temporary shine, but to treat the lips with a cocktail of hydrating ingredients while using innovative pH-reactive technology to enhance one’s natural lip color. Whether you are a minimalist looking for a single go-to product or a makeup aficionado seeking a reliable base for layering, understanding the mechanics and benefits of this balm can transform your approach to lip health.
The Science of pH-Reactive Pigments
One of the most fascinating features of the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm is its ability to transform into a custom shade upon contact with the skin. This isn’t magic; it is the result of pH-reactive pigments. These pigments, often including ingredients like Red 27, are colorless when dissolved in a waterless base (like a balm) but react to the moisture and pH levels of your skin to reveal a unique pink or berry hue. Because everyone’s skin pH is slightly different—influenced by factors like diet, environment, and even stress levels—the resulting color is truly personalized. This “your lips but better” effect ensures that the balm never looks artificial or mismatched with your complexion.
The most famous shade in the collection, “Big O,” starts as a pale, almost translucent pink in the tube but blossoms into a healthy, flushed glow once applied. This technology is particularly beneficial for those who find traditional lipsticks overwhelming or difficult to maintain throughout the day. Since the tint is derived from a reaction with your own skin, it tends to stain the lips slightly, providing a long-lasting flush that doesn’t disappear the moment you take a sip of water. This makes it an ideal choice for busy professionals or parents who need a reliable color that requires zero precision during application.
A Deep Dive into the Ingredient Profile
The efficacy of any lip treatment lies in its ingredient list, and Buxom has curated a formula that balances immediate gratification with long-term benefits. At the heart of the Power-Full Plump Lip Balm is pumpkin seed oil. This botanical powerhouse is rich in fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins E and A. Unlike heavier waxes that simply sit on top of the skin, pumpkin seed oil is known for its ability to penetrate the lip’s surface, providing deep hydration that helps to smooth out fine lines and prevent the “cracked” appearance that often plagues matte lip products.
Beyond hydration, the formula includes a specialized peptide complex. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as building blocks for proteins like collagen and elastin. While a topical balm cannot replace lost collagen overnight, the inclusion of peptides helps to support the skin’s natural barrier and provides a temporary smoothing effect that makes the lips appear firmer and more defined. This is coupled with menthyl lactate, a derivative of menthol that provides a cooling sensation. Unlike the aggressive, stinging heat found in some old-school lip plumpers, this cooling effect is gentle and refreshing, signaling that the product is working to stimulate microcirculation without causing irritation or redness.
The Sensory Experience: Cooling, Tingling, and Texture
Application is a vital part of the self-care ritual, and Buxom has designed the Power-Full Plump Lip Balm to be a sensory delight. Upon the first swipe, the most noticeable sensation is the cooling tingle. This is a signature of the Buxom brand, intended to provide a refreshing “wake-up call” for the lips. For many users, this sensation is synonymous with the plumping action, creating a psychological and physical feeling of fullness. The cooling effect is sustained for several minutes, providing a soothing relief, especially during warmer months or after a long day of wearing heavy makeup.
The texture of the balm is equally important. It strikes a delicate balance between being lightweight and substantial. It is not oily or slippery, which prevents it from migrating outside the lip line—a common issue with high-shine glosses. Instead, it feels plush and cushiony, creating a protective barrier that seals in moisture. This texture makes it comfortable for all-day wear, and it doesn’t leave behind the dreaded white residue or sticky film that can occur with lower-quality balms. The oversized, chunky packaging also adds to the experience, offering a sturdy, luxurious feel that makes it easy to find in a crowded handbag.
Exploring the Shade Palette: From Big O to Dolly
While the pH-reactive “Big O” is the flagship shade, the Power-Full Plump Lip Balm collection has expanded to include a variety of tints to suit different preferences and skin tones. For instance, the shade “Dolly” is inspired by Buxom’s best-selling mauve gloss. In the balm format, Dolly provides a sophisticated, muted plum tone that is perfect for those who want a bit more depth than a standard pink. Other shades like “Fiery” or “Gilded” offer warmer or more shimmering options, allowing users to customize their look while still enjoying the plumping benefits.
When choosing a shade, it is helpful to consider your skin’s undertones. If you have cool undertones, the classic pinks of Big O will likely look very natural. If you have warmer or olive skin, the deeper berry or mauve shades can provide a beautiful contrast. However, because these balms are sheer, they are incredibly forgiving. Unlike a high-pigment lipstick where the wrong undertone can clash with your skin, these balms harmonize with your natural coloring, making them a safe gift for others or a low-risk purchase for yourself. The sheer nature of the color also means you can apply it without a mirror, making it the ultimate on-the-go beauty tool.
The Benefits of Peptides in Lip Care
The inclusion of peptides in the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm elevates it from a basic cosmetic to a functional skincare product. In the context of lip care, peptides serve a vital role in maintaining the structural integrity of the lip border, often referred to as the vermilion border. As we age, this border can become less defined, leading to the “bleeding” of lip products into fine lines. By regularly applying a peptide-rich balm, you are providing the skin with the nutrients it needs to stay supple and resilient.
Furthermore, peptides work synergistically with the hydrating oils in the formula to create a “plumping” effect that is more about health than irritation. While traditional plumpers use irritants like capsicum (pepper) to cause localized swelling, Buxom’s use of peptides and hydration focuses on volumizing the lips through moisture retention. When the skin cells are fully hydrated and supported by amino acids, they naturally appear fuller and more radiant. This approach is much more sustainable for long-term use and is far more comfortable for individuals with sensitive skin who cannot tolerate the intense heat of traditional plumping agents.
How to Build a Comprehensive Lip Care Routine
To get the most out of your Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm, it should be part of a broader lip care strategy. Just as you wouldn’t apply moisturizer to a face that hasn’t been cleansed, applying balm to dry, flaky lips won’t yield the best results. Start by gently exfoliating your lips once or twice a week. You can use a dedicated sugar scrub or simply a soft washcloth to remove dead skin cells. This ensures that the pumpkin seed oil and peptides in the Buxom balm can penetrate effectively rather than sitting on top of dry patches.
Once exfoliated, apply the Power-Full Plump Lip Balm as your base layer. In the morning, this provides a shield against the elements. If you prefer a more dramatic look for the evening, you can layer a lip liner or a Buxom Full-On Lip Polish over the balm. The balm acts as a primer, filling in fine lines and ensuring that the gloss or liner applies smoothly. Before bed, applying a generous layer of the balm can act as an overnight lip mask, allowing the ingredients to work undisturbed while you sleep, so you wake up with soft, hydrated lips ready for the day ahead.
Comparing Plumping Balms to Glosses and Serums
It is important to understand where the Power-Full Plump Lip Balm fits in the hierarchy of lip products. Lip glosses, like the Buxom Full-On Lip Polish, are designed primarily for high shine and a more intense tingling sensation. They are excellent for a glamorous finish but can sometimes feel sticky. Lip serums, on the other hand, are often very thin and designed to be worn under other products for anti-aging benefits. The Power-Full Plump Lip Balm sits comfortably in the middle, offering more hydration than a gloss and more color than a serum.
For those who prioritize comfort, the balm is the clear winner. It provides a satin finish that looks natural and feels weightless. It is also less likely to catch your hair on a windy day compared to a gloss. However, if you are looking for a “glass-like” reflection, you might find the balm too subtle on its own. Many users find that the best approach is to use the balm for daily wear and keep the glosses for special occasions. By having both in your arsenal, you can choose the level of shine and plumping intensity that suits your mood and the setting.
Practical Tips for Long-Lasting Hydration
While the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm is a powerhouse of hydration, its longevity can be enhanced with a few practical tips. First, avoid the habit of licking your lips. While it might feel like you are moisturizing them, saliva contains enzymes that actually break down the skin’s natural barrier and lead to further dryness. Instead, reach for your balm whenever you feel the urge to hydrate. Because the Buxom formula is so nourishing, you should find that you need to reapply less frequently than you would with a standard wax-based chapstick.
Second, consider your environmental exposure. If you spend a lot of time in air-conditioned offices or cold, windy climates, the moisture in your skin is constantly being pulled away. Keeping a tube of the Power-Full Plump Lip Balm at your desk and another in your bag ensures you are never without protection. Additionally, staying hydrated from the inside out by drinking plenty of water will complement the topical effects of the balm. When your body is hydrated, your skin—including your lips—will naturally look more voluminous and healthy, allowing the balm to enhance an already good foundation.
The Art of Precision Application and Contour Enhancement
While most users treat a lip balm as a product to be applied casually and without thought, the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm offers a unique structural design that invites a more intentional application technique. The oversized, slanted bullet is not merely an aesthetic choice; it is engineered to mimic the natural curvature of the lips, allowing for a one-swipe coverage that many thinner balms cannot achieve. To maximize the plumping effect, consider the “Center-Out” technique. By starting at the center of the lower lip—the fullest part—and dragging the balm toward the corners, you deposit the highest concentration of the cooling menthyl lactate where the blood vessels are most accessible. This immediate stimulation at the center of the pout creates a focal point of fullness that naturally draws the eye, enhancing the three-dimensional quality of the lips.
For those looking to define the Cupid’s bow without the harsh lines of a traditional pencil, the edge of the Buxom balm can be used as a soft-focus contouring tool. Instead of swiping across the top lip in a single motion, use the sharpest point of the bullet to trace the “V” of the Cupid’s bow. Because the formula is sheer and pH-reactive, it creates a soft, blurred border that mimics the look of naturally youthful, voluminous lips. This technique is particularly effective for individuals who feel that their lip line has become less distinct over time. By focusing the product on the vermilion border, you are not only applying color but also delivering the peptide complex directly to the area most prone to fine lines, effectively acting as a targeted treatment throughout the day.
An often-overlooked application method involves the “Double-Layer” strategy for customized intensity. Since the pH-reactive pigments in shades like Big O build upon themselves, a single swipe provides a translucent flush, while a second layer applied after sixty seconds—once the first layer has fully reacted with the skin’s moisture—can deepen the hue significantly. This allows the user to transition a daytime look into a more vibrant evening aesthetic without needing a separate product. Furthermore, for those with asymmetrical lip tones, localized application can help balance the appearance. If the upper lip is naturally darker or more pigmented than the lower lip, applying a thicker layer of the balm to the lower lip can help the pH-reactivity even out the overall look, creating a harmonious, healthy glow across the entire mouth.
Environmental Resilience: Adapting to Micro-Climates
The performance of a lip balm is frequently dictated by the environment in which it is worn, and the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm is specifically formulated to handle the transition between varying micro-climates. In extremely cold, dry environments, the primary concern is Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL). The pumpkin seed oil and synthetic waxes in this balm act as a sophisticated occlusive barrier, locking in the skin’s internal moisture while shielding the delicate tissue from biting winds. Unlike water-based treatments that can actually freeze or evaporate quickly in sub-zero temperatures, the oil-rich base of the Power-Full Plump remains stable, providing a physical shield that prevents the painful cracking and peeling associated with winter weather.
Conversely, in high-humidity or tropical settings, many heavy balms can feel suffocating or “greasy,” leading to the product migrating into the pores around the mouth. The Buxom formula utilizes lightweight esters that ensure the product stays put even when the wearer is perspiring. The cooling sensation provided by the menthyl lactate becomes a functional benefit in the heat, offering a refreshing reprieve that feels like a “cold drink of water” for the lips. This makes it an essential companion for outdoor summer activities, from beach trips to hiking, where one wants a hint of color that won’t smudge or feel heavy under the sun. It is important to note, however, that because the balm is designed to be soft and cushiony, it should not be left in a hot car; the high concentration of natural oils gives it a lower melting point than a standard hard-wax lipstick.
For the frequent traveler, the pressurized cabin of an airplane represents the ultimate test of a lip product. The recycled, low-humidity air in a plane can dehydrate the lips within an hour of takeoff. Applying a generous layer of the Power-Full Plump Lip Balm before boarding—and re-applying every two hours—can prevent the post-flight “shriveled” look. The pH-reactive nature of the balm is also a boon for travelers; as the body’s internal chemistry shifts due to altitude and dehydration, the balm adjusts its tint, often providing a brighter, more “awake” look that masks the fatigue of long-haul travel. It functions as an all-in-one survival tool for maintaining a polished appearance in the most taxing environmental conditions.
Molecular Synergy: The Role of Emollients and Occlusives
While the existing discussion of pumpkin seed oil highlights its nutritive value, the true secret to the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm’s texture lies in its complex matrix of emollients and occlusives. Emollients like Ethylhexyl Palmitate serve to smooth the surface of the skin by filling in the gaps between skin cells, which is why the lips feel instantly softer upon application. This ingredient works in tandem with Isononyl Isononanoate, a silk-like ester that provides the “slip” or glide of the product without the stickiness associated with lanolin or heavy petrolatum. This molecular choice is what allows the balm to feel substantial yet weightless, a difficult balance to strike in lip care formulation.
The occlusive component of the formula is equally vital. By incorporating synthetic wax and microcrystalline wax, Buxom creates a flexible film over the lips. This film is not rigid; it moves with the lips during speech and eating, ensuring that the protective barrier remains intact. This is particularly important for the delivery of the peptide complex. For peptides to be effective, they need time to sit on the skin and interact with the surface layers. The occlusive waxes ensure that the peptides aren’t simply wiped away or evaporated, but are held in contact with the lip tissue for as long as possible. This “slow-release” environment maximizes the efficacy of the skincare ingredients, making the balm a functional treatment rather than a fleeting cosmetic.
Furthermore, the inclusion of Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil adds another layer of fatty acid support. Sunflower oil is high in linoleic acid, which is essential for maintaining the skin’s natural barrier. For users who suffer from chronic dryness or “addiction” to low-quality balms (where the lips feel drier the more you use the product), the presence of these high-quality seed oils helps to actually repair the barrier over time. This means that with regular use, you may find you need less product, as your lips become better at retaining their own moisture. This transition from a “crutch” product to a “repair” product is the hallmark of a well-formulated lip treatment, distinguishing the Buxom balm from mass-market alternatives that rely on camphor or phenol which can cause rebound dryness.
The Hybrid Advantage: Bridging the Gap Between Lip Oils and Traditional Sticks
In the current beauty market, there is a significant divide between the rising popularity of lip oils and the traditional reliability of lip sticks or balms. The Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm occupies a unique hybrid space that captures the benefits of both without their respective drawbacks. Lip oils are celebrated for their high shine and deep penetration, but they often lack longevity and can feel “bleeding” or messy. Traditional stick balms offer great portability and protection but can sometimes feel waxy or fail to provide a noticeable aesthetic change. Buxom bridges this gap by using a solid-to-oil transformation technology; the product remains a stable solid in the tube, but the heat of your lips melts the outer layer into a nourishing oil-like film upon contact.
This hybridity is especially beneficial for those who find lip oils too high-maintenance. Because the Power-Full Plump is a stick, it provides a more uniform layer of protection that doesn’t migrate into the corners of the mouth—a common complaint with liquid lip oils. Yet, it delivers the same high-gloss, light-reflecting finish that makes the lips appear larger. This shine is strategic; it acts as a “liquid mirror,” reflecting light off the highest points of the lips to create the illusion of more surface area. For individuals with thin lips, this combination of physical plumping (via menthyl lactate) and optical plumping (via high-shine oils) provides a dual-action volumizing effect that is more potent than either a standard balm or a standard gloss alone.
Another advantage of this hybrid format is the “stain” effect. While many lip oils disappear entirely once the oil is absorbed, the pH-reactive pigments in the Buxom balm are designed to tint the upper layers of the dermis. This means that even after the glossy, oily layer has been absorbed or worn off, the lips retain a flush of color. This “long-wear hydration” is the holy grail for busy professionals who don’t have the time to re-apply a lip product every hour but want to avoid the parched look of a traditional long-wear lip stain. It offers the aesthetic payoff of a tint with the sensory comfort of an oil, making it a versatile tool for anyone who values efficiency in their beauty routine.
Professional and Lifestyle Integration: The Versatile Utility of Sheer Color
The Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm excels in professional environments where a full-pigment lipstick might feel too formal or high-maintenance. In the context of a modern office or a video conference, the balm provides just enough color to brighten the face and prevent the “washed out” look that often occurs under fluorescent lighting or webcam lenses. Because the color is sheer and reacts to your own chemistry, it never looks like you are “wearing too much makeup.” It enhances your features in a way that looks effortless, making it the perfect choice for the “no-makeup makeup” look that is currently a staple in professional aesthetics.
Beyond the office, the balm is an ideal companion for active lifestyles. For those who enjoy the gym, yoga, or outdoor sports, wearing traditional makeup can be problematic as sweat can cause products to streak or clog pores. The Power-Full Plump Lip Balm, however, stays confined to the lips and provides a healthy glow that complements a post-workout flush. The cooling sensation is particularly welcome during a high-intensity workout, providing a localized feeling of refreshment. It allows the wearer to feel “put together” during exercise without the risk of a makeup mishap, and the hydrating formula prevents the lips from drying out during heavy mouth-breathing or exposure to the elements.
For parents or those with a high-touch lifestyle, the “transfer-proof” nature of the pH tint is a significant benefit. Unlike a creamy lipstick or a sticky gloss that can transfer onto clothing, children, or coffee cups, the Buxom balm’s tint stays on the lips. While the initial shine may transfer slightly, the color itself is bonded to the skin. This makes it a “worry-free” product; you can go about your day—hugging, eating, and drinking—without constantly checking a mirror for smudges or tooth stains. It provides a level of confidence and ease that high-pigment products simply cannot match, catering to a lifestyle that prioritizes both beauty and practicality.
Troubleshooting and Product Longevity: Maximizing Your Investment
To ensure you get the most out of every tube of Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm, it is helpful to understand some of the edge cases and maintenance tips associated with the formula. One common occurrence is the “blooming” of the bullet. Occasionally, you may notice tiny droplets or a slight white film on the surface of the balm, especially if it has been subjected to temperature fluctuations. This is not a sign that the product has expired; rather, it is a natural process where some of the waxes or oils crystallize on the surface. Simply wipe the top of the bullet with a clean tissue, and the product will be as good as new. To prevent this, store the balm in a cool, dry place and avoid leaving it in direct sunlight.
Another troubleshooting tip involves the intensity of the pH reaction. For some individuals, the “Big O” shade can react quite strongly, resulting in a pink that is brighter than desired. If this happens, you can “tame” the color by applying a thin layer of a non-reactive, clear lip balm underneath. This creates a slight barrier that slows down the pH reaction, resulting in a more muted tint. Alternatively, if you find the color isn’t showing up enough, ensure your lips are completely dry and free of other products before applying. Residual moisture or oils from a different brand can interfere with the pH-reactive pigments, preventing them from developing to their full potential.
Finally, consider the hygiene of the oversized bullet. Because the balm is highly emollient, it can occasionally pick up traces of lip liner or food particles. To keep the product fresh, it is a good practice to periodically wipe the surface of the balm with a sanitizing wipe or a tissue dipped in a tiny amount of alcohol. This ensures that the pH-reactive technology remains uncontaminated and that the cooling menthyl lactate stays potent. Given the generous size of the product, one tube can last several months even with daily use, making these small maintenance steps well worth the effort to preserve the integrity of the formula from the first swipe to the last.
Aesthetic Layering: Creating Custom Finishes with Existing Lip Wardrobes
The Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm is a master of versatility when it comes to layering with other lip products, acting as both a corrective primer and a finishing topper. One of the most effective ways to use it is in conjunction with liquid matte lipsticks. While liquid mattes offer incredible longevity, they are notoriously drying and can make lips look flat or “raisin-like” after a few hours. By applying a thin layer of the Buxom balm *over* a dried liquid lipstick, you can instantly re-hydrate the lips and add a dimensional shine without breaking down the color underneath. The balm’s unique ester-based formula is less likely to dissolve the matte pigments than a traditional oil-based gloss, allowing you to refresh your look mid-day without a full re-application.
For those who prefer a more structured look, the balm works beautifully as a base for lip liners. Many people find that lip liner can be difficult to apply smoothly on dry lips, often resulting in skipping or a jagged line. Applying the Power-Full Plump Lip Balm first and letting it sit for two minutes creates a smooth, “primed” canvas. The peptides in the balm help to fill in fine lines, allowing the lip pencil to glide effortlessly. You can then use the pencil to define the edges and lightly fill in the corners, creating a sophisticated “contoured lip” look that still feels as comfortable as a balm. The sheer tint of the balm will blend with the liner, creating a custom shade that looks more natural and integrated than liner used alone.
Another creative layering technique is the “Gloss Sandwich.” Start with a layer of the Buxom balm to establish a base of hydration and custom pH color. Follow this with a high-pigment lipstick in a complementary shade, and finish with a tiny dab of Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in the very center of the lips. This creates a high-drama, multi-dimensional effect that is perfect for special occasions. The balm at the base ensures that as the other layers wear off throughout the evening, your lips are never left feeling parched or looking bare. This layering strategy leverages the balm’s strength as a long-term hydrator while allowing for the artistic expression of more pigmented cosmetics, proving that the Power-Full Plump is not just a standalone product, but a foundational tool for any comprehensive beauty kit.
The Verdict: Is it Worth the Investment?
In the world of high-end beauty, the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm is often viewed as a luxury item, but its value lies in its versatility and the quality of its ingredients. When you consider that it functions as a treatment, a primer, and a custom colorant, the price point becomes much more justifiable. Unlike cheaper alternatives that may require constant reapplication or contain drying alcohols, a single tube of this balm lasts a significant amount of time due to its rich, concentrated formula. It is an investment in the long-term health of your lips rather than just a fleeting cosmetic fix.
Ultimately, the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm is for the person who wants beauty to be easy, comfortable, and effective. It caters to the modern desire for “cleaner” looking makeup that enhances rather than hides. By focusing on hydration, using pH-reactive technology for a custom glow, and incorporating beneficial peptides, Buxom has created a product that truly lives up to its “Power-Full” name. It encourages a moment of self-care in a busy day, providing a cooling, refreshing experience that leaves you looking and feeling more confident.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm actually make lips bigger?
The balm creates the appearance of fuller lips through a combination of intense hydration, light-reflecting shine, and a mild cooling sensation that stimulates blood flow to the surface. While it does not provide the same results as medical fillers, it effectively smooths out lip lines and adds a healthy swell that makes the lips look more voluminous and youthful. The peptides in the formula also help to support the skin’s structure over time, contributing to a firmer look.
2. Is the tingling sensation safe for sensitive skin?
The sensation in the Buxom Power-Full Plump Lip Balm is derived from menthyl lactate, which is generally milder and more cooling than the capsicum or cinnamon used in other plumpers. Most people find it refreshing rather than painful. However, if you have extremely sensitive skin or a known allergy to menthol derivatives, it is always wise to perform a patch test on a small area of your lip first. If you experience any persistent redness or discomfort beyond the initial cooling, discontinue use.
3. How long does the custom color from the pH-reactive technology last?
The initial “balmy” shine will last for a few hours, depending on your activity level (eating, drinking, etc.). However, the pH-reactive tint often leaves a subtle stain on the lips that can last much longer—sometimes up to four or five hours. This means that even after the moisturizing layer has worn off, your lips will still retain a healthy, flushed color. You can easily reapply throughout the day to refresh the shine and the cooling sensation.
4. Can I use this balm if I have very dark or very pale lips?
Yes, the pH-reactive technology is designed to work with all lip colors. On very pale lips, the tint often appears as a bright, healthy pink. On darker lips, it tends to enhance the natural depth of the lip color, adding a rosy or berry-toned glow. Because the product is sheer, it doesn’t mask your natural lip color but rather works with it to create a shade that is uniquely flattering to you. It is one of the most inclusive ways to wear lip color.
5. What is the difference between “Big O” and the other shades?
“Big O” is the original shade and is the most reactive to pH, usually turning a customized shade of pink. The other shades in the collection, such as “Dolly” or “berry” tones, still contain the plumping ingredients and hydrating oils, but they have added pigments that provide a more consistent color regardless of pH. If you want a completely unique-to-you pink, go with Big O. If you prefer a specific hue like mauve or plum, the other shades in the Power-Full range are excellent choices.
